I’m a reporter, editor and interactive storyteller with 17 years experience in startup, digital and legacy media spanning newspapers, magazines, radio, TV/cable and online news sites. I’m also an experienced manager and team player with proven success defining and executing editorial and digital workflows and strategies, hiring and motivating successful teams, and leading site rebrands and redesigns.

I have written extensively for Al Jazeera AmericaThe Washington Post, NBC, and Philadelphia Weekly, where my reporting and editing was granted about a dozen state and national awards including an AltWeekly Award for Best Immigration reporting and the Feldman Fellowship Award from the National Press Club. My stories have also appeared on NBC Latino, Fox News Latino, WHYY-FM public radio, and Mission Local as well as Fader, Black Book, and Dazed & Confused magazines.

Most recently I was on the launch team for Al Jazeera America, serving a variety of roles including Online Video Editor, Digital Planning Editor (with emphasis on Latin America coverage) and Special Projects Reporter. In the latter role I worked cross-platform, reporting and producing TV broadcast packages as well as news, online video and multimedia-rich features for the website. My series titled “A Deep Divide” on the Nicaragua Canal received a 2015 Editor & Publisher’s award for Best News Feature.

I received a B.A. in Print Journalism (with minors in Philosophy and Irish Studies) from New York University in 2000, and an M.A. in New Media Journalism from U.C. Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism in 2010.
